HVMC Accomplishments

Funding:

  • We were the recipient of a generous $50,000 private grant through the Avenue Greenlight program.

  • We received a grant from the Civic Center CBD of approximately $10,000.

Hayes Valley Streets:

  • Shared Streets in partnership with the Hayes Valley Neighborhood Association (HVNA):  Hayes Valley was one of the first to implement. It has offered a lifeline to many of our businesses.

  • Street Lighting:  After a safety audit by SFSafe (SFPD) we were advised that additional lighting could be an effective deterrent to crime.

  • Clean Streets: We have worked with Refuse-Refuse and other organizations to participate in monthly neighborhood clean-ups.

  • We worked with our district supervisor to find funding for bi-monthly power washing of our primary corridor. Our sidewalks are looking much better!

  • Parking and Curb Management: We have representatives on SFMTA’s Study Committee working to review and revise parking and curb management policies in Hayes Valley.

Safety and Security

  • In tandem with the HVNA Public Safety committee and our relationship with SFPD, we restored foot patrol officers to our corridor.

  • We worked to bring back the Ambassador Program. Ambassadors assist with safety and cleanliness issues, as well as mental health needs of our unhoused population.

  • Business Window Replacement Reimbursement Program.

  • We represent Hayes Valley on Chief Scott’s Small Business Advisory Forum.

  • We participated in the SFPD’s Small Business Advisory Forum’s Security Summit.

  • We have been working with SFCDMA, a private benefactor and the SF Safe Camera Program to evaluate a video security program for our Merchant Corridor.

Government and legislative Impact

  • We actively worked with the Mayor London Breed’s office and the Office of Economic and Workforce Development on the Mayor’s Small Business Recovery Act
